Okay, so maybe GreenDeanTV didn’t influence Congressional legislation, but we would like to think that we are ahead of the curve.  On Tuesday, April 22nd, Rep. Doris Matsui, after watching the GreenDeanTV webisode on tree planting and energy conservation (LOL), introduced the Energy Conservation Through Trees Act of 2008.  The legislation is intended to help improve air quality and lower the need for energy conservation.

The ASLA Government Affairs staff, in conjunction with Casey Trees, a non-profit tree planting organization, began working with the Congresswoman early last year on this bill.  The legislation would establish a grant program to utilize targeted residential tree planting techniques as a means of helping to reduce energy usage in homes across the country.

Now that Spring has sprung…plant a tree and it will help to lower your summer cooling bill.  If you need help with the placement or selection of trees, check out the webisode or drop me a line with any questions.
